Christine Yo, Criminal Defense Attorney
BACKGROUND
Christine Yo has been a competitive musician throughout her childhood in Tampa, Florida. That spirit of drive followed Christine through college, where she won several Speech & Debate Competitions, qualifying her teams for the National Championship several years in a row. She graduated from Cornell University as Captain of the Speech Team with a Bachelor of Science in Industrial & Labor Relations.
Following graduation, Christine was selected by Seoul Broadcasting Station to join Season 3 of the internationally televised vocal audition program “Kpop Star.” She was offered opportunities to stay in the Korean music industry after the show. But she decided to come back home to the States to pursue other career ambitions.
Back home in Tampa, Christine worked in corporate human resource management at Coca-Cola, helping the company through a merger and acquisitions process, before heading to law school at Stetson University on scholarship. She then worked in an entertainment company’s in-house counsel department, negotiating and drafting contracts, as well as in a boutique criminal defense and civil litigation firm. Thereafter, she spent three years working at the Public Defender’s Office in Hillsborough County, where she represented over 1000 clients involving juvenile charges, misdemeanors, and felonies. She has seen cases from First Appearance Court, all the way through sentencing and probation. She has tirelessly conducted trials, written appellate briefs, and found the best outcomes possible for her clients.
Through all of these endeavors, Christine learned how she could use her experiences to defend those accused. She views cases to this day with a wide-eyed perspective, finding creative solutions for all parties to move on. Christine is an intelligent attorney dedicated to fighting for her clients, and she takes joy in working to make a positive difference in her clients’ lives.
