Can I Travel to Another County While on Probation in Florida?

Hello, My Name Alexis Sykes and I am one of the Senior Criminal Defense Attorneys at Smith & Eulo Law at the Jacksonville office. Today’s topic is: Can I travel out of county while I’m on probation? The short answer to that question is that “it depends”. It depends on what kind of probation you are on whether it’s misdemeanor or felony, or something more serious like drug offender probation of sex offender probation. In some jurisdictions you may be able to get permission from your probation officer to simply travel, but in other jurisdictions or in certain types of probation you may need to request permission from the judge, in which case you would need an attorney to help you file a motion to travel, so that you would have permission to leave the jurisdiction. In any case it is best that you always check with an attorney before you make any travel plans while you’re on probation.

If you or a loved one is ever in need of a Criminal Defense Attorney, please do not hesitate to reach out and call Smith & Eulo Law. Please stay tuned for next week’s topic.
