Steven Miller, Criminal Defense Attorney
BACKGROUND
Steven Miller spent over a decade as a prosecutor serving the central Florida community. As a former Assistant State Attorney for the 9th Judicial Circuit in Orlando, Florida, Mr. Miller handled a wide variety of criminal prosecutions, including misdemeanor, DUI, felony offenses, drug trafficking, violent crimes and traffic homicides.
While in Orlando he spent several years as the Deputy Bureau Chief of County Court where he trained and assisted new prosecutors to effectively prosecute cases. He spent several years as an Assistant State Attorney in Lake County for the 5th Judicial Circuit, where he handled a felony case load and eventually served as a Docket Manager supervising the attorneys in the courtroom and handling a major crime docket himself. The cases handled include career criminal enhancements, gang enhancements, punishable by life offenses, 10/20/Life firearm related offenses, homicides and traffic homicides. He has tried over 40 jury trials to verdict as a prosecutor and handled thousands of criminal cases over the course of his career.
Education
Mr. Miller is a native of Orlando, Florida, graduating from West Orange High School and attending the University of Florida where he obtained a Bachelor of Science in Finance. After graduating from UCF, he decided to pursue his Juris Doctorate at Florida A&M Law School located in downtown Orlando, graduating top 5% of his class with Magna Cum laude Honors. While competing the law degree he received multiple “Book Awards” for obtaining the highest grade in several courses. He also participated in Law Review and the Prosecution Clinic with the State Attorney’s Office in Orlando.
While working as an Assistant State Attorney Mr. Miller went back to UCF and obtained a Master’s in Business Degree.
