When the incident is viewed in its proper context, this case clearly illustrates an instance of self-defense, where the owner was fortunate to be lawfully armed and able to protect himself. It is evident that the defendant was attacked by a violent, raging animal and had to defend himself from serious bodily harm or even death. Therefore, it is undeniable that the pit bull should be euthanized for attacking a human being.
